Coppins having a tough day at the office

After the heights of success at last week\'s world supercross champs, the Motueka-born expat is back to earth in the early stages of the big-spectacle Paris Bercy non-championship event.

Competitive with the US-based stars of supercross early in the races, Coppins has struggled to maintain the pace throughout.

\"Our new suspension this year has been great for the outdoor motocross and it was OK last week on the bigger track at Stade de France, but here is very tight and we have some work to do to get it dialled in.

\"In one race I was even lapped by my teammate after I made a little crash and lost a lot of ground ... it\'s only about a 45-second lap here at Bercy.

\"But that\'s OK, these are still just the first night heats,\" said the mature 23-year-old. \"There\'s a long way to go till the final on Sunday night.

\"The most important thing for us is to use the track time to get the bike right for the other round of the world champs next month.\"

Coppins wheels out the Corona Suzuki again tomorrow night at the Bercy tracks near downtown Paris.
