MJ Church Press Release:

M J Church Kawasaki’s Darryl Atkins competing in the open class of the British Motocross Championship at the Pontrilas circuit had an up and down day. He suffered from 2 no finishes, but he also had his best result to date in the British Championship, with a ninth in the second moto.

The Kiwi had two top ten starts but was taken down in the second turn in moto one and was forced to pull out.

The second heat Atkins stayed up right and finished up in a fantastic ninth place, just ahead of Mark Jones.

"My starts were much better today," Darryl said, "it was a big shame I crashed in the first moto, because I think I could have had some good results today. But I am really pleased with the bike, it’s going really well and hopefully I will be running in the top ten more regularly".

The H M Plant backed team left the Pontrilas circuit in Hereford and drove to the Ken Hall international in Petersfield.

Tallon Vohland, Darryl`s team mate was victim to a couple of bad starts and crashes and ended the day in ninth place, despite riding to a strong fifth in the final moto against GP regulars Kevin Strijbos and Tyla Rattray.

Atkins, finished up in sixth place after three top ten finishes.

The event was won by Stephen Sword (125) and Kiwi, Josh Coppins (open).

The team now prepares for round 11 of the World Championship in Loket, Czech Republic this weekend. Tallon and Darryl will be joined by Team mate Espen Blikstad for the event.
