MotoCross riders from throughout New Zealand will converge on Woodville in the last weekend of January for the 44th Annual Woodville MotoCross. With thirteen titles and over $21,000.00 in the Prize Pool at stake across Senior, Junior and Mini Classes the competition is sure to be hot.
The partnership between the Manawatu Orion Motorcycle Club: and the Event Key Sponsor - Blue Wing Honda Ltd: is once again the force behind the New Zealand MotoCross Grand Prix. Improved track layout and facilities will ensure everyone gets close to the action as the riders are put through their paces on the testing Woodville circuit.
“The unique facet about Woodville is that the track is built and used specifically for the event. No rider has a hometown advantage as the track is used for this event only each year”, said Bryan Davidson of the Manawatu Orion Motorcycle Club. “The contours of the land allows the track to be situated in a natural amphitheatre, so spectators have access to outstanding views of all the action” comments Clive Cooper-Smith of Blue Wing Honda.
Whilst there will be some Qualifying for Junior Classes on Friday 28th, the racing begins on Saturday 29th January as the future talent of Motocross in NZ battle it out in the Junior and Mini ranks. Included also on the Saturday are Senior Support classes. On Sunday 30th, Castrol Honda Red Rider and former World Champion, Shayne King, will again be going head to head with New Zealand’s finest Motocross riders for Grand Prix honours.
