The third round of the GNCC series was held at Steel Creek, near a place called Morgantown in North Carolina.
The track was rough with lots of roots and square edge bumps. Also some steep climbs and descents through the woods.
The first corner I was in about 10th place, making my way into 4th by the third corner, before disappearing into the trees. I tried to relax and just follow the guys in front.
A small crash knocked the camelbak bladder out of its pouch and I rode for an hour and half with no drink system.
By the time I pitted for fuel at the two hour mark I was very dehydrated and lacking concentration. I had dropped back in the positions.
After the pit crew gassed me and refitted a new camelbak bladder I regained some energy and pushed on. I passed a rider on the second to last lap and about one kilometre from the end caught 8th place. It was a tight bush section and passing was near impossible, lappers also made progress difficult.
I finished in 9th position, two seconds behind 8th.
I am currently in 7th position in the points.
