SORRY- No Juniors at this event

The Kapi-Mana Enduro is all ready to kick off on Saturday 19th November.

Justin is very keen to trial a new sprint-type format for this round

The following is a SUGGESTED format.... and the end result will be likely be something along these lines

Event Format and draft supplementary rules

Bulls Run Enduro Sprint – Grading Event

Suggested - Supplementary Rules – For comment

Start

Start spread over 45 minutes from start time. 10.30am

Expert – Start first 15 Minutes 10.30 to 10.44

Numbered A1, A2, A3….Etc

Intermediate Start next 15 Minutes 10.45 to 11.59

Numbered B1, B2, B3……Etc

Novice/Ladies Start last 15 Minutes 12.00 to 12.14

Riders can start any time within their 15 minute time frame. They cannot start before then, they cannot start their bikes before then or they will be penalised as normal MNZ rules. Riders are only penalised for a late start after the 15 minute period.

First Section

All riders must reach the end of section one by a nominated time.

e.g. if section 1 is 30 minutes then all A riders must check through check 1 by 11.00 all B by 11.15 and all C by 11.30. All riders can check through the check early without penalty.

The purpose of the first section is to act as a prologue stage and allow the riders to establish their starting order for section 2.

Riders can go to the start of section 2 as soon as they complete section 1.

Section 2 – Loops (Laps)

The riders will be released at 15 second intervals.

The riders are timed on each loop in section 2 (Laps).

Section 2 is a timed loop that the riders can complete as many loops (laps) as the can before checking through check point 2 or before 3.15pm, with the following stipulations.

The course terrain and length will be aiming to achieve an optimum number of laps where it is unlikely that the experts and Intermediate riders will exceed their minimum number of laps as follows:

  • A 3 Lap minimum
  • B 2 Lap minimum
  • C 1 Lap minimum.

There will be a minimum of three OB checks within the loop at strategic locations.

Scoring section 2

The experts time will be the total of their best three loops.

The intermediates time will be their best time x 2 plus their second best time.

The C grades time will be their best lap x 3.

Final Section

The final section will be a transport stage with a special check at the end. Riders will be given a maximum time to complete the final stage. As they are allowed to start the final stage any time after 2pm it is unlikely any riders will lose time. All of the riders need to have their card checked by a marshal for OB results and are to be made aware of any missed OBs at the time. Missed OBs incur the 4000 point penalty. The riders can check through the final check as soon as they arrive.

Grading and Promotion

To be discussed but I suggest we consider the following.

Any intermediate rider whose aggregate time puts them in the top 10 overall is immediately promoted to experts and scored in that class for the series, including the days points as an expert. The rider will not show an expert result on the days results and potentially upset the trophies however.

Any Novice rider whose aggregate time puts them in the top 20 overall is immediately promoted to Intermediate and scored in that class for the series, including the days points as an Intermediate. As with the intermediates the rider will not show an Intermediate result on the days results and potentially upset the Trophies.
