Castrol Honda Finishes On High Note

Castrol Honda has finished the national roadrace season with three titles and a couple of very pleasing runner-up placings.

Backing up the Grand Prix and TT titles it won along the way, the sharply-presented outfit finished the five-event national series with second placings for Brad Selfe in 600 sports production and Shaun Harris in Formula Two.

The final round at Manfeild near Palmerston North saw New Plymouth\'s Harris miss by a single point from grabbing third spot in the competitive 600 production class.

Oamaru\'s Selfe, 24, was the find of that class, blasting his Castrol Honda CBR600 through a consistent season and picking up the NZGP title at Ruapuna along the way.

Selfe backed it up with a strong third placing behind 30-year-old Harris\'s second spot in the Formula Two championship, after Harris won the first leg at Manfeild at the weekend to go with the TT title he won the previous week at Pukekohe.

Aucklander Glen Jeffery gave the team another top championship finish with fourth overall on his RS250, taking second spot in the final leg at Manfeild.

Fellow Aucklander Ray Clee, winner of the 600 sports production NZTT title a week ago, finished sixth overall in that class through the championship. The 28-year-old also claimed fifth in the Superbike class on the CBR900 Fireblade-based open racer.

Christchurch\'s Hayden Bool took 10th spot in the 600 sports production championship on his CBR600.

With the Motorcycle Trader & News championship over for another year, attention switches to the Battle of the Streets series beginning at Wanganui on Boxing Day.
