Hi

I'm back into it again. Racing that is.

Since compressing two vertabrae in my back in early July, I have been recovering and building up to my full training programme. And as of the 15th of August I've been racing again.

The first race was the Fast Eddy 6 hour. The plan was for me to be a marshall at this race but four days before the race Eddy told me he was pulling out and I was to take his place, pairing up with Simon Wakely (the young rider, doing the British Champs for the team).

The race started well with me on the 450, 3rd around the first corner and into the lead by the 4th corner. From there we pulled away building a lead every lap. Finishing a clear lap and a half in front of second ( 7 minute lap).

The following weekend was a club MX, again on the 450 and loving it. Won 2 of the 3 motos only beaten in the second cause passing was really tough on the one line track, still I was happy to be back amongst it. The weekend just gone, I was a last minute recruit for the Dawn to Dusk 12 hour. Eddy pulled out again so Simon and I were teaming up again. This was a huge race with about 400 teams.

The course was rocky and hellishly slippery. It rained for the first half of the race and the course deteriorated quickly with ques of riders at some hills. There was no where to relax, total concentration the whole lap. We got an average start and were in 6th after the first couple of laps.
At about mid race I decided to push a bit for a couple of laps and managed to catch and pass the leaders (Alfie Cox, South Africa and Cyril Depress, France). (Hey Whibs, show some respect here!!! Ed.)
We raced hard for the second half of the race with the lead see sawing between us and the Husky team of Chris Hockey and Darryl Bolter. On the last lap I pulled one and a half minutes, so we won comfortably. Really tough race and so glad to reach the end.
